Established in December 2013 by co-founders Travis Bird and Angela Catalano, Shotgun Cinema is a nonprofit film organization dedicated to exhibiting new independent and repertory films. The organization is currently laying plans to operate a permanent venue as a year-round arthouse cinema. In addition to hosting monthly screenings at various spaces in New Orleans since 2014, the organization supports and has collaborated with a number of film-related organizations (including the New Orleans Film Society, the New Orleans Video Access Center, and Mountainfilm), hosts the annual True Orleans Film Festival, and presents Full Aperture, a program dedicated to experiment and avant-garde films. They’ve also been known to throw a Stop Making Sense dance party.
