French Market District

Discover the French Market District!

Established in 1791, the French Market District is a shopping destination, a cultural center, and a historical landmark.  Encompassing some of New Orleans’ most iconic sights the District encompasses the shops and residences of the Upper Pontalba Building, Washington Artillery Park, the shops of the Colonnade, the open-air Farmers and Flea Markets in the French Quarter and Crescent Park along the Mississippi River in the Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods.  Through arts and fitness programming, cultural celebrations and annual festivals the French Market shares New Orleans’ culture and history with locals and visitors alike.
